Lot # 1203 (Sale Order: 206 of 853)

PISTOL. Cal. 45 ACP. S# 956555. Bbl. 5". Remington Rand 1911A1 was the most common .45 Caliber semi-automatic pistol issued during WWII. Disassembly shows a corrected Flannery Type 19 bbl. that was marked "P" on the left side of the lug and a "F" on the right side of the lug. GIANT CLASSROOM COLT MODEL 1911 TRAINING PISTOL.

Lot # 1205 (Sale Order: 208 of 853)

Most of these enormous training firearms were manufactured in the 1950s - 1960s & were utilized as demonstration pieces to show a large group how something worked interna...morelly & externally. This was far before the days of a power point & served an important training purpose. Some are more common to encounter, such as the Browning Model 1919s, but they were made in several styles & types including the M14, the M2 Carbine, M1 Garand. the M1918 BAR, M16, and even Pineapple Hand Grenades & the Colt 1911A1 such as this example. Constructed primarily of plastic & springs it can be disassembled like a standard size pistol. The magazine is removable by pushing the mag release. The hammer is spring loaded to be cocked & rests in the fired position. The barrel bushing can be rotated so the plug & recoil spring can be removed, then the bushing removed from the front. Upon the slide being slid into the half-cock position, the slide stop can be removed, freeing the recoil spring guide. The slide is then removed from the front like the original. The only notable parts that do not move are the trigger, the thumb safety & the magazine follower. The finish is a painted black on all surfaces except the grip panels, which are an appropriate brown in color, like the originals. It measured 50" in length from the hammer spur to the muzzle & stands 64" tall from the floor to the top of the sights. It is approximately 8" in width. There is a floor mount that is integral w/ the frame, and plugs into the floor base just rear of the trigger guard. MAGS: 1 scale model of a 7rd. CONDITION: This example is in remarkable condition w/ no obvious breaks or repairs which is not uncommon w/ the surviving examples today. The hammer pulls to the rear and loaded under spring tension to return to the fired position. Slide slides freely to the rear to expose the chamber,& back again. All parts disassemble w/ ease. The mag release operates easily & magazine drops out the bottom as intended, locking correctly when returned into the grip. (02-22436/JZ). NON-GUN $4,000-6,000.
