French MAS St. Etienne "MAS 223" FAMAS Rifle

Lot # 608 (Sale Order: 605 of 664)

Rare French MAS St. Etienne "MAS 223" FAMAS Semi-Automatic Bullpup Rifle with Accessories

This is a extremely rare commercial copy of the French FAMAS semi-automatic Bullpup rifle. This rifle was the French equivalent of the American M16A1 rifle and still in limited use by France today. These rifles were designed and manufactured in the French MAS arsenal at St. Etienne. The most unique thing obviously is that these rifles are of a Bullpup design. This concept was intended to provide a full size rifle barrel and action in a very short and compact rifle by shortening or eliminating the stock and moving the action to the rear next to the shooter's face, thereby considerably reducing the overall length; this rifle is only 30 inches long overall. The right side of the receiver is marked "MAS.223" over the serial number and the left side of the receiver is marked "MANUFACTURE NATIONALE D' ARMES/DE SAINT ETIENNE/MADE IN FRANCE/CENTURY ARMS/ST. ALBANS. VT". It has a unique set of military style sights. The rear sight has single large battle sight with a large aperture with two different size flip up peep sights, one in front and one behind the large aperture, that have different size eye pieces. The front sight has a standard blade front that is also adjustable for windage and also has a push up battle or quick point night sight in front of the front sight post, all housed inside the long carrying handle that almost acts like a sighting tube. The charging handle is also located directly below the carrying handle with a fold-down bipod mounted on the sides of the receiver along with the factory flash-hider. The rifle is designed to be adaptable to either a left or right handed shooter by just reversing the ejection port cover and ejector. It also has an ambidextrous safety to accommodate either style shooter. It comes with five extra original twenty round magazines, an original bayonet and scabbard, three French Famas nylon clip pouches, web belt, sling, and cleaning kit. It is estimated that less than 200 of these rifles in total were imported into the U.S. before the 1994 Assault weapon ban stopped their importation. Consequently this is a very rare and collectable rifle today.

Class: Modern Long Gun

Excellent overall with 99% of the original dark black finish overall on the metal and plastic components with just minor handling marks, some wear on the barrel, and ejected cartridge dings on the buttstock. Mechanically excellent. As noted this is among the most scarce of the semi-automatic rifles on the American market today. It would certainly be the centerpiece of any modern sporting rifle collection.

Designed as an update to the iconic Barrett M82A1, the M107A1 largely retains the same appearance while maintaining the platform's powerful chambering and long range capabilities. Ohio Ordnance/Colt Model 1918 BAR Semi-Automatic Rifle with Case

Lot # 619 (Sale Order: 616 of 664)

Rare Limited Production Ohio Ordnance/Colt Model 1918 BAR Semi-Automatic Rifle with Case

Manufactured by Ohio Ordnance for Colt as a closed bolt semi-automatic replica of the Model 1918 Browning Automatic Rifle. This is one of a mere 200 rifles made in a special run. The BAR, adopted in 1918, would not find itself becoming the United States Military icon it is today until World War II when it was issued as a standard part of infantry squads. Due to its light weight when compared to other full power machine guns of the time, it was able to be used by a single soldier, rather than the three or four for the 1919 machine gun. The BAR was an essential part of introducing the doctrine of walking fire into the military. The BAR would remain the standard light machine gun of the United States Armed Forces through the Korean War, and would eventually be phased out in the 1950's as the M14 was implemented to fill multiple roles in infantry units. The rifle would also find itself in the hands of criminals and lawmen during the crime rife gangland era of the 20s, finding itself as a true favorite of Clyde Barrow of the infamous duo Bonnie and Clyde. This rifle features a full high polish blue finish with nitre blue small parts as was commonly seen on early rifles. Fitted with an early style flash hider, blade front, and peep and ladder rear sights. The top of the receiver is marked "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO./HARTFORD, CT./SELF LOADING RIFLE/MODEL 1918 CAL. .30-06/S/N C1918-00049" ahead of the Rampant Colt. Fitted with a checkered forend and smooth walnut buttstock with blued steel buttplate. Includes a certificate of authenticity from Colt and Ohio Ordnance, correct Colt leather case, extra magazine, leather sling, tool, and cleaning kit.

Class: Modern Long Gun

Excellent overall, retaining 99% plus original blue finish with minimal handling marks, a few small dents in the wood, and crisp forearm checkering. The case is very good with some light scuffing, accessories are excellent. Mechanically excellent.

Fabrique Nationale G Series (G744) FAL Rifle

Lot # 626 (Sale Order: 623 of 664)

Scarce Fabrique Nationale G Series (G744) FAL Semi-Automatic Rifle

Manufactured in Belgium, this rifle is one of a limited number imported by Browning Arms in the early 1970s. Originally approved by the BATFE for importation, the Bureau shortly thereafter reversed the decision, determining that the imported commercial FALs were too close to FN's selective-fire capable military contract FALs in configuration. Further import was cut off, and the ones already through customs were given a pass and added to the BATFE C&R List (see page 23). Features standard winged post front and range adjustable peep rear sights, long flash hider, bayonet lug, and adjustable gas port with grenade setting. A folding polymer tipped carry handling is fitted to the front of the upper receiver. The left side of the upper receiver is marked "F.A.L. cal. 7,62", and the right side bears the one-line Fabrique Nationale address. The lower receiver has the "S/R/A" selector markings with a pin inserted to lock out the "A" spot. Fitted with walnut triangular forearm, smooth plastic pistol grip, and a walnut stock with stamped sheet steel buttplate. Includes a M1 pattern OD web sling.

Class: Curio & Relic Long Gun

Excellent, with 97% of original black finish retained, scattered handling marks, and slight discoloration most noticeably on the flash hider. The stock is excellent with a few light handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
