Pair Syroco Wood book styled bookends 1950's 5"wx6.5"h and 2 books - Hardcover 1923 "Life of Abraham Lincoln in Verse for Old and Young" by Stella Tyler Mathews of Seattle Washington, The author collected anecdotes of Lincoln's life from notable figures such as Gallahar, Baldwin, Selby, Bullard and others and rewrote them in verse. She believed that every child should know Lincoln's story and wrote in verse so that children could memorize the stories to help them in the future years and to give them courage to go forward when they might otherwise fall by the way. - Hardcover "The Lady of the Lake" A poem in six cantos by Sir Walter Scott, first published in 1810, composed primarily in octosyllabic tetrameter couplets, it mines Gaelic history to retell a well-known legend about the graceful feudal heroine Ellen Douglas. Telling the story of King James V's struggle against the powerful clan of James Douglas and the affections of three suitors towards James Douglas' daughter, Ellen. The narrative takes place over six days in the Trossachs region of Scotland, mainly Ellen's Isle in Loch Katrine. The author Walter Scott was a Scottish historical novelist, poet, playwright and historian born in 1771 in Edinburgh and died in 1832 at Abbotsford.
