Lot # 3112 (Sale Order: 112 of 457)

Even as Allied forces pushed into Germany in the Spring of 1945 production of the K43 continued into April with various time and resource saving production measures. Matching late style bolt carrier without hold open latch. Stamped dust cover. Red glue laminate stock and forend, correctly unnumbered. K43 magazine marked "gcb". (C) EARLY INLAND M1 CARBINE, A GI BRINGBACK FROM IWO JIMA.

Lot # 3116 (Sale Order: 116 of 457)

Manufactured between May 1942 and September 1943, this example retains early production run features. Inland barred dated "8-42" with milled "N" marked front sight and ea...morerly "S" marked 2-leaf rear sight. Flat bolt. Inland marked trigger group with checkered push button safety and unmarked magazine release. I-cut high wood walnut stock marked "IO" in the cut out and encircled "P" firing proof on grip. "RMC" marked 2 rivet top wood. Mounts include an early flat style barrel band and checkered butt plate. Complete with woven sling, oiler, and a flat bottom "UN" magazine. Carbine is also accompanied by a notation from the consignor that this rifle was brought back from World War II by a Malcom Fleming who served on B-29s. A copy of a signed 4-page narrative from Fleming very colorfully details his time on Iwo Jima, including the story of this rifle. After having engine trouble while bound for Japan during March of 1945, Fleming's B-29 was forced to land on Iwo Jima, where they stayed for approximately a week. While there he went out seeking war trophies from Japanese-held caves claiming "a U.S. rifle and a Jap rifle along with bayonets, knives, and other booty too numerous to mention". CONDITION: Good, honest, salty, bringback condition. Metal finishes have largely faded to a gray patina with some cleaned oxidation spots. Stocks have expected wear and impressions, displaying an age darkened appearance throughout. Good, bright bore. Fine mechanics. It is very difficult to find early carbines in WWII correct configuration, this example enhanced with a wonderful narrative of its history on Iwo Jima. A fantastic piece of WWII Pacific Theatre history. Standard aperture rear sight graduated to 1000 meters. Barrel bushing marked ".30-06" and "41" with a 7-row perforated heat shield. (C) STEVENS MODEL 620 SLIDE ACTION TRENCH SHOTGUN WITH ATTRIBUTION AS A VIET NAM BRINGBACK.

Lot # 3125 (Sale Order: 125 of 457)

In the correct range for World War II production as per both Canfield and Poyer. Barrel has rollmarks on left side, with Stevens rollmark on right side of barrel, "PROOF ...moreTESTED - 12 GAUGE / -2 3/4 INCH CHAMBER -", "P / (Flaming Bomb)" proof on left side of receiver and right side of barrel shank. "U.S." mark on left side of frame above trigger guard. "M / S" proof ahead of trigger guard. Smooth walnut forearm. Appropriate combination heat shield, bayonet lug, and sling attachment, unmarked. Rear sling attachment point is inletted into the toe line and affixed by a pair of screws. Consignor states that this gun is a Viet Nam bringback; repurposed WWII trench guns were extremely popular in Viet Nam for their handy length and devastating effect on target. CONDITION: Good as reconditioned. Thick dark parkerization has softened legends somewhat, but legible throughout. Receiver has some old peppering with park over top, heavier at edges and magazine tube. Forearm is good with some handling marks and a grain split on right side. Stock is good, somewhat dry, with some chipping and cracks are receiver line, with scattered other handling marks throughout; buttplate too large and overhangs both toe and heel. Heat shield screws molested. Mechanically fine, bore is good with some light frosting and pitting approximately 2/3rds of the way up. Given the overall state of the weapon, it is conceivable that this gun spent time in a humid operational environment. Accompanied by a copy of "Trade: Bangkok" by Tim Brost, based on the life of consignor Rod McKay. EMW Barrel Length: 20" Chamber: 2 - 3/4" FFL Status: Curio & Relic Gauge: 12 Gauge Manufacturer: Stevens Model: 620 Paperwork: Book Serial Number: 17834
