Double acid etched with "US", foliate and patriotic patterns. Maker mark of "Collins & Co. Hartford Conn 1862" on the ricasso. Leather buffer pad present. Decorated, gilded brass hilt with three-branch "D" guard, "US" and foliate designs. Ruby-eyed eagle quillon. Flat wire wrapped, ribbed brass grip with gold bullion officer sword knot. Steel scabbard with decorated brass fittings. Hand engraved "Capt. B.N. Wiles 151st Regt. N.Y. Vols Presented by his friends".

Single edged, bright blade with fuller. Double acid etched with "US", foliate and patriotic patterns. White leather buffer pad present. Decorated brass hilt with three-branch "D" guard and US Eagle design. Flat wire wrapped silver grip. Gold bullion officer knot. Steel scabbard with decorated brass fittings and bullion hanger. Hand engraved patriotic pattern and "Presented to Lieut. Will. M. Nimbs by the members of Co. H, 27th N.Y.V. Jan. 1st, 1863." near the throat. Included with the sword is "The History of the 27th Regiment N.Y. Vols." book, photocopies of muster roll and documents named to Nimbs, and a hand written bill of sale from Civil War Relics Dealer, Larry Hicklen of Middle Tennessee Civil War Relics to Larry Schmidt.
