Item Description: Translate description
Lot of Three (3) Civil War Swords: 1) Model 1850 Foot officer's sword, with 30.5" etched decorated blade with large and small fullers, marked at the ricasso "W C", and "1862". No blade washer present. Gilt brass pierced guard with floral decorations, brass pommel with decorated border. Grooved wood grip covering in sharkskin and wrapped with a single twisted copper wire. No scabbard. Condition is fair, the blade etching mostly faded out, with a heavy rust patina, light and heavy pitting, but no edge nicks. Guard and pommel show a dark uncleaned patina with some of the gilt finish present only in protected areas. Grip has a large crack on the back side with some scuffs and losses to the sharkskin covering. The twisted wire is broken near the top and missing in the last groove. Nice tang peen on the pommel top. 2) U.S. Musician's sword, 28.25" blade with a single wide fuller, maker marked by Ames at the ricasso, and "U.S." "A.D.K." "1862". Brass crossguard and quillion, finger guard has been cut off with only a small portion remaining. Brass grip resembling twisted wire wrapping, round pommel. No scabbard. Condition is fair, blade has a dark rust patina overall, with no edge nicks. Brass crossguard and pommel show scratches and minor dings. Grip is in good shape. 3) U.S. Musician's sword, 28.25" blade with a single wide fuller, maker marked by Ames at the ricasso, and "U.S." "A.D.K." "1862".
