c. 1950s Fuji Go Devil Scooter

Lot #101 (Sale Order 1 of 67)

c. 1960s Fuji Go Devil Mini Bike - SOLD ON BILL OF SALE ONLY - Offered Without Reserve - A pretty advanced scooter, considering it had a swing arm suspension and steep steering rake. Built by Fuji (also the parent company of Subaru), the Go Devil was what some called a “suitcase bike.” Designed to fold up into a compact package, it could be carried in a zip-up bag. Theoretically, you could check it on your airplane flight and have instant transportation when you arrive at your destination! While this is an interesting idea, perhaps the successful bidder shouldn't consider deleting their Uber App!

c. 1967 Honda P-50 Moped - SOLD ON BILL OF SALE ONLY - VIN: NOP50E189149 - Offered Without Reserve - In the teens Megola introduced a motorcycle with multi-cylinder engine in the front wheel. In the '60s, Honda revived the idea (and probably manufactured the last one!). The unit displaced 50cc (3 cubic inches)! It was a four-stroke. Like all mopeds, it was started by pedaling. The frame is pressed steel. This unit is very original. Only minor corrosion of alloy cover. No odometer on this unit. All the livery is correct.

c. 1950s JC Higgins "Moto-Cycle" - SOLD ON BILL OF SALE ONLY - VIN: 29893 - Offered Without Reserve - JC Higgins bicycles were made in the U.S. and sold through Sears. Then and now, a very popular bike. Every kid wanted to upgrade their bike to be “like a motorcycle". Numerous kits were on the market after WWII. This one has the “Moto-Cycle“ conversion. The rear wheel was removed, and the sub-assembly installed. The rider then pedaled which, in turn, turned the engine over. This example even sports the original decals.

Lot #106 (Sale Order 6 of 67)

1970 Honda Trail 90 - SOLD ON BILL OF SALE ONLY - VIN: CT90E-262066 - Offered Without Reserve - If there was ever a bike that put the world on two wheels it was the Honda “step-thru” series. Introduced in the early '60s, the CT90 had many iterations. It was truly a dual sport vehicle that was able to even go to extreme altitudes with its carburetor mixture control on some models. Others had dual range transmissions. All seemed to live a hard life, so finding a nice example is always a treat. Crash bars were fitted on this unit. It appears to have been stored with a full gas tank which has created subsequent issues. Odometer indicates 52 miles.

Lot #108 (Sale Order 8 of 67)

1970 Honda CT70 - VIN: CT70 185823 - Offered Without Reserve - Introduced in late 1969, the Trail 70 or CT70 was sort of the big brother to their 50cc “monkey bike". Honda went back to their pressed steel frame technology with these. As with their smaller 50cc brother, they had fold up handle bars and a front fork that could be detached. Now they were fitted with a speedometer. They were ideal for carrying around in RVs or for use as the proverbial “pit bike". The unit on offer is a KO or first year version. There is slight fade on top of the headlight bucket. Engine guard fitted. Original exhaust is still intact and in good condition. 2,259 miles are indicated.

1968 Bultaco El Bandito

Lot #109 (Sale Order 9 of 67)

1968 Bultaco El Bandito - SOLD ON BILL OF SALE ONLY - VIN: B5000030 - Offered Without Reserve - In the late '60s, the horsepower wars had begun in the Motocross world. Now the Japanese were easing into the market and Bultaco had many fronts to deal with. The 500cc class was now in the headlines. The British no longer reigned supreme with their large BSA, Matchless, and AJS singles. The new threat was the two-stroke engine. CZ dominated the open class with their 360cc engines. For their foray into this market, they introduced the 362cc El Bandito. Now their entry had 43 horsepower on a 250-lb. motorcycle. The unit on offer appears to be highly original. It is fitted with a Spanish Amal, as was common.

Lot #110 (Sale Order 10 of 67)

c. Late-1960s Ducati Flat Tracker - SOLD ON BILL OF SALE ONLY - Offered Without Reserve - This unit is fitted with a Ducati 450 Desmo engine. In the '60s, these would have been going head-to-head with the 750 Harley-Davidson KRs and the 500cc OHV Triumphs. Their ability to rev, and the lightweight and massive power band, made them a formidable foe in American Class C racing. This unit is in a period Champion frame and uses a Hurst disc brake.

Lot #111 (Sale Order 11 of 67)

c. 1950s Hiawatha Doodlebug - SOLD ON BILL OF SALE ONLY - VIN: 9746 - Offered Without Reserve - After World War II, inexpensive transportation was a big business in the U.S. Cushman was selling scooters to appeal to the cheap transportation niches as well as the utility niche. Bearn Manufacturing stepped in after WWII with the Doodlebug. It was hard to believe that these were street legal at the time, and that you could get an optional lighting kit and generator. Power was from either a 1.5 horsepower Briggs and Stratton engine or a Clinton engine. It is believed that approximately 10,000 Doodlebugs were built. There is still an annual rally in Webster City, Ohio. Maybe you could ride this one there!

c. Mid-1960s Ducati 250 Short Tracker - SOLD ON BILL OF SALE ONLY - Offered Without Reserve - This is a 250 Ducati Diana engine fitted in a Champion hard tail frame. This was the ideal setup for doing short track. Many liked the constant contact that a hard tail frame still gave you. Until the late '60s, these small Ducati engines reigned supreme on dirt tracks. The Diana series were the top of the 250 series with bigger ports and higher compression. Note the bolt on axle holders which allow further adjustment.

They were a hit among custom bike builders and racers too. This Suzuki is fitted with one of the later units with outstanding graphics. It is fitted with a popular four into one exhaust system, probably Kerker. It has the air suspension conversion done on the front forks. 1971 Honda SL-350

Lot #115 (Sale Order 15 of 67)

1971 Honda SL-350 - VIN: SL3502013370 - Offered Without Reserve - When Yamaha introduced their DT-1 series in 1968, a whole new genre of motorcycles opened up - the “Dual Sport” market. Honda released its CB-350 in 1968. The 350 engine was superseding the 305 series. When this new niche appeared, they introduced the SL series. The SL was a high fendered, knobby-tired street legal bike that was capable of on/off road adventures. The exhaust system skipped the formalities of chrome plating and went to a utilitarian matte black finish. The frame was a dual downtube unit which helped lighten the unit. There was no electric start on these 350 engines. Like many Japanese exhaust systems, they were thin-walled and prone to rusting. This example has a nice original set. Very good finish. Slight rust on rims. Iowa State Staff sticker still intact, indicating a prior mature rider. 7,098 miles indicated.

Lot #116 (Sale Order 16 of 67)

1983 Yamaha 50 Special - SOLD ON BILL OF SALE ONLY - VIN: JYA23H004DA102220 - Offered Without Reserve - Yamaha made an entry level cruiser with their 50 Special, kind of like the kid brother to their Heritage Special. These had “the look” with their seat with a back rest and locking compartment. It was also a great bike to learn on, and the mainstay of many motorcycle safety courses. Sometimes they were used to administer riders' tests. This unit shows only 867 miles and is in excellent original condition.

1972 Honda CL-175

Lot #117 (Sale Order 17 of 67)

1972 Honda CL-175 - VIN: CL1757018026 - Offered Without Reserve - With the later CL series, Honda went to a full cradle or more conventional frame, instead of using the engine as a stressed member. Now they had a five-speed transmission which made it even more flexible both on and off road. The high pipes were a very successful styling exercise. Honda was to use this engine platform across numerous models, although this one was “kick only". CL typically was Honda’s designation for Scrambler. These would be among the last, as Honda soon introduced their XL Scrambler series. A minor dent on the right-hand side and a scrape on the graphics are the only flaws on this 839-mile bike.

Lot #119 (Sale Order 19 of 67)

1966 Kawasaki W-1 - VIN: W1F00164 - Offered Without Reserve - In the early '60s, Meguro had been toying with a copy of the BSA parallel twin, the A-7. Around 1962, Meguro was bought by Kawasaki. The W-1 series was an evolution of this design and featured a 650cc engine. The engine components are almost identical to the BSA pre-unit twins. The Kawasaki featured a single Mikuni carburetor. The chrome side panels were also suggestive of its “British attitude". This bike has all of the correct cycle parts. There is distressing of the chrome on the muffler and some trim. The tank’s chrome is very good. 13,965 miles indicated.

Lot #120 (Sale Order 20 of 67)

Credited with being one of the first true dual sports, they were extremely popular and saw wide range adaptation to moto-crossing and flat tracking. This is an extremely original example down to the front fender which was typically cast off for a Preston Petty fiberglass unit. It shows slight chafing on the tank. Mileage indicated is 2,693.

Singles have always had a reputation for hand numbing vibration. Honda installed counter balancers to smooth out the engine pulses. 8.5 compression ratio with dual plug ignition made for a tractable street bike. Honda also shared this engine with some of their successful dual sport bikes. There are minor scratches on the side covers. 2,100 miles indicated.

1972 Suzuki GT750

Lot #122 (Sale Order 22 of 67)

1972 Suzuki GT750 - VIN: GT75014803 - Offered Without Reserve - This was the first liquid cooled motorcycle to hit the market. Suzuki, in essence, used the cylinder design from their T-500 series but used three instead of two pistons and then water cooled them. The first year had a double-sided, twin leading shoe brake that was a knock off of the popular Grimeca brake made in Italy. It was only used one year and is highly prized among vintage racers. The bikes were heavy at 550 lbs. They were available in two colors in 1972. In different markets they had different nicknames. In the U.S., they were known as “Water Buffaloes". In the UK, they were simply called “Kettles". Because of their water cooling, they were able to tour at high speeds. This is a very good restoration of a first-year model. 21,320 miles indicated.

1983 Honda V45 Sabre

Lot #123 (Sale Order 23 of 67)

1983 Honda V45 Sabre - VIN: JH2RC0705DM105353 - Offered Without Reserve - In the early '80s, Honda launched their V-4 engines. The Sabre and the Interceptor used this innovative design. It would be a design that continued into the '90s with such notable designs such as the RC-30 and even later some of their MotoGP bikes. Later they bumped the dimensions even larger to the V-65. The engine had dual overhead cams and four valves per head. To deal with the compactness of the design they used down draft carburetors on the front and side draft on the rear. These were very popular for drag racing, and we know of one high profile Suzuki rider who privately street dragged one on the side! Excellent original paint and also fitted with the Honda accessory pack. 4,316 miles indicated.

A seat cowl added to the look. This year they used the twin shocks in the rear. Kawasaki was realizing that there was a “niche” for the mid-size bikes. No longer were they in the little brother category but a whole world of their own. The painting cases provided a pleasing contrast to the bright red paint. Equipped with a Kerker four into one header. 7,870 miles indicated, though it looks more like 780!

1983 Honda V45 Interceptor - VIN: JH2RC1502DM005445 - Offered Without Reserve - With the introduction of the Interceptor, Honda once again broke the mold. The Interceptor was pretty much a superbike for the street. The utilization of a smaller wheel in the front was unheard of. The V-4r engine as introduced on their Sabre series now had a five-speed in lieu of a six-speed because of the adaptation of a chain drive vs. the original shaft drive used on the Sabre/Magna models. A compact V-Twin, the Ascot was fitted to celebrate the racers that once stormed the famed Ascot track in Southern California. Its small tank and hint at a number plate on the side make this illusion complete. Honda used their proven Comstar wheels and a two into one chrome exhaust system. The VT series engines were a very successful design for Honda and was used in other models. The shaft drive ensured drivetrain reliability in the long run. 1990 Honda GB500

Lot #133 (Sale Order 33 of 67)

1990 Honda GB500 - VIN: JH2PC1606LK100414 - Offered Without Reserve - In the late '80s, Honda introduced several innovative motorcycles. The Trans-Alp, the Hawk, and the GB500. Due to the weak dollar, they cost over $4,000 in 1989, a lot of money for a bike in the 500cc range. The GB500 was patterned to cash in on the café racer craze. One was now offered a BSA Goldstar / Velocette Thruxton-style tribute bike with an electric starter and a reliable engine (and electrics!). Sadly, like many units, they floundered on dealers' floors. They were stacked up in Honda’s warehouses. A few years after introduction, it was not uncommon to come across some that were half-priced. Honda finally took the last ones and dumped them in Europe. As soon as something disappears, everyone wants them! This is a clever “resto mod” with its Suzuki 4LS brake, in lieu of the original disc. A SuperTrapp exhaust completes the retro look. 10,326 miles indicated.

Although only 50cc, the NS series benefitted from liquid cooling. This unit has a slight dent on the right-hand side. The odometer indicates 2,276 miles.

Lot #135 (Sale Order 35 of 67)

c. 1970 Honda CB-350 - SOLD ON BILL OF SALE ONLY - VIN: CB3502022746 - Offered Without Reserve - In 1968, Honda released their 350. It was a refined and updated parallel twin. It, too, featured twin carburetors and an electric starter. Now a five-speed transmission was standard. This engine would provide a platform for their CL and, later, SL series. Carburetors were changed to Constant Velocity type units. Now the instruments were located outside of the headlight. The frame was a full cradle arrangement instead of using the engine as stressed member. There was a separate tachometer and speedometer. The tanks had painted side panels, and they still utilized a drum brake. This unit has excellent original paint and the original exhaust. All the cycle parts on this bike are close to perfect! With its five-speed transmission, it was capable of achieving over 125 MPH! Many found that this was pretty much all they needed in a motorcycle. This unit has excellent original paint. Lot #137 (Sale Order 37 of 67)

1981 Honda CM400A - VIN: JH2NC0207BM205974 - Offered Without Reserve - In the late '70s, Honda introduced the concept of an automatic transmission. To brand it, they used the term Hondamatic. It was seen as another avenue to introduce riders. The 400A, with its 396cc engine, was seen as a gateway bike. It was still capable of over 70 MPH! Their system allowed the engine and transmission to use the same oil. Although it is clutchless, the transmission does require shifting from the low to high range. Since it can’t be “bump started,” it is also fitted with a kick starter. These also had an air suspension front end, and the valves are still intact on this unit. 834 miles indicated.

Lot #138 (Sale Order 38 of 67)

1980 Kawasaki Z-1 Classic - VIN: KZT100G502192 - Offered Without Reserve - In some ways the introduction of the Z-1 Classic was as a significant bike as their first Z-1 in 1972. This was the first production motorcycle to be fuel injected. Kawasaki reached out to Bosch and incorporated one of their electronic fuel-injection systems. Kawasaki was already seeing the handwriting on the wall about clean air and fuel efficiency. Also, some of the carburetion glitches that the fours had now disappeared. The flashy tank made it stand out in the crowd! There has been mild crazing of the chrome on the alternator cover. It has been fitted with accessory crash bars. 1,795 miles indicated on the odometer.

Instead of chains driving the cams, stacked gears were used as Honda had done on their early race bikes. These bikes were also quite popular for endurance racing in Europe. The 1,000cc water-cooled V-Twin was a continuation of the same engine platform launched several years earlier with their V-45 series. They only came in Honda’s red, white, and blue livery. There were headlight differences between 1985 and 1986 models. Some consider this one of the ultimate sports touring bikes. Paint is in very good condition and the mileage is 19,918.

With the 900RS series they introduced a modern bike with all of their classic Z-1 attributes. From a distance, you would think you had been transported back into the seventies. As you got closer, the root beer and orange paint scheme were now the livery of a contemporary water cooled transverse four. A modern bike with retro curb appeal! This unit appears new. 1975 Solex Moped

Lot #141 (Sale Order 41 of 67)

1975 Solex Moped - SOLD ON BILL OF SALE ONLY - VIN: 7221334 - Offered Without Reserve - Originally conceived as a motor to be attached to a wheel, the Solex moped was conceived as ideal and inexpensive transportation. We are talking about countries where gas is sold by the litre, not the gallon. In Europe, a moped is ideal for commuting to work or to the market. It's very common to be used for scooting about. This Solex will give the winning bidder an opportunity to don their beret and cruise down to pick up a baguette at the bakery or to putt around a swap meet. The taillight is a later CEV unit. Pedals are used to start the moped and they also activate a coaster brake to stop like on a bicycle. This unit is in very good condition. Slight deterioration of finish on cylinder as is typical and expected on an engine that has been through a few heat cycles.

1975 Suzuki Rotary

Lot #142 (Sale Order 42 of 67)

1975 Suzuki Rotary - VIN: RE513587 - Offered Without Reserve - Rotary engines had been around since the teens. They were used by Mazda in some of their cars. Suzuki had actually been studying the prospect of using this design since the '60s. The engine wasn’t that smooth and had a lot of subsystems. The carburetor was operated by a total of five cables! Three different oil reservoirs were needed for the engine and its subsystems. Another byproduct of the rotary design was heat. The engine was water cooled. The exhaust had to be double walled to prevent burns. It did get praise as one of the best handling bikes to come out of Japan. The original graphics are in excellent condition. The instrument cover has fogged, but this is not uncommon. It is still in working condition. Cover mimics taillight design. 21,488 miles indicated.

Now they had 12 volts, a dual range, five-speed transmission, and adjustable front forks. Tucked in there too was an electric starter! As with most two-strokes of this era, it was fitted with automatic oil injection. The days of "mix your own" were long gone! They were fitted at the factory with turn signals which had become mandatory in the U.S. Their engines were a little wider, but they were a standout in the dual sport market. Enter the Astro. Its frame was set up for quick steering, and it was void of all non-essential components. Ready to go, out of the crate. Many racers carried them along with their bigger racers to pick up a little extra money. Alloy wheels front and rear completed the package revered by many. Some were available with a sleek quarter or café style fairing. Technically considered a “Moped” they had all of the accoutrements of a larger motorcycle: speedometer, tachometer, and instrument lights. Their Honda Comstar pressed wheels and the spine back frame made for a light but strong unit. A 7-HP engine and five-speed transmission made for both an urban and suburban runabout. Today these are highly desirable for such events as the True Grit Run or the Small-Bore Festival. This unit is fitted with a luggage rack. Lot #150 (Sale Order 50 of 67)

1980 Suzuki GS1100 - VIN: JS1GU71A5B2102141 - Offered Without Reserve - The 1100's inaugural year was 1980. Suzuki was now going lock step with other Japanese motorcycle manufacturers in showing that “size matters". As a street bike, an 1100 would always be popular in the states. A new niche was developing for drag bikes. Here Suzuki was able to shine with their advanced A-frame design. The DOHC set up facilitated breathing with its four valves per head. Suzuki called this twin swirl combustion chamber or TSCC. It was, in essence, a copy of a Cosworth design. Honda had both the CBX and the 1100F in this league, while Kawasaki had its GPZ series. None could match the GS1100. This unit shows 2,600 miles.

It had the cruiser “attitude", a stepped seat, pull back bars, black four into two headers, and the use of a no maintenance drive shaft vs. a chain meant more time to cruise! Lot #161 (Sale Order 61 of 67)

c. 1970s Yamaha 500 MX - SOLD ON BILL OF SALE ONLY - VIN: 363-021764 - Offered Without Reserve - A 230-lb. bike with a 500cc engine. This was the ultimate Motocross bike if you could stay on it! These were renowned for their sudden power explosions, causing the bike to wheelie or just plain break loose. The shocks were prone to fade. Their handling characteristics helped earn them the name “Widow Maker”. This appears to be an excellent original example.

c. 1980 Yamaha 80CC Racer

Lot #163 (Sale Order 63 of 67)

c. 1980 Yamaha 80CC Racer - SOLD ON BILL OF SALE ONLY - VIN: 126 - Offered Without Reserve - This unit is fitted with a Starracer frame. These were the brainchild of the late Neil Keen of Missouri. Allegedly they were set up with the front and rear wheels slightly out of alignment to facilitate running ovals (where you only turn left!). This 80cc racer was for an entry level/child racer. It has all the bells and whistles of the bigger short trackers of the era. May have optional GYT (Genuine Yamaha Tuning) kit fitted, but not confirmed. Cool man cave accessory.

1973 Honda CB350F 1973 Honda CB350F

1973 Honda CB350F

Lot #164 (Sale Order 64 of 67)

1973 Honda CB350F - SOLD ON BILL OF SALE ONLY - VIN: CB350F1051334 - Offered Without Reserve - After Honda’s smashing success with their 750 four, they decided to introduce an intermediate or “half scale” version. Now a half-sized bike would be available for less. There was also a niche for tax purposes in certain countries where under 400cc bikes were taxed at a reduced rate and had a more urban appeal. This unit was painted in Bacchus Olive Green and there's only a slight paint issue on one headlight ear. The exhaust is in really good condition, and this was the only year for the four into four system. 5,452 miles indicated.

1975 Yamaha "Street Tracker"

Lot #166 (Sale Order 66 of 67)

1975 Yamaha "Street Tracker" - VIN: 447112815 - Offered Without Reserve - The street tracker craze kind of originated with Yamaha’s popular 650 vertical twin motorcycles. They were built to emulate Yamaha’s 750 dirt trackers that were campaigned in the early '70s. The Yamahas were chosen because they were plentiful and reliable. This example has alloy wheels and twin megaphones exiting on the right-hand side. Tasteful miniature turn signals keep you legal.

Late-1960s Yamaha DS6 250 Twin-Cylinder Dirt Track Racer Late-1960s Yamaha DS6 250 Twin-Cylinder Dirt Track Racer

Late-1960s Yamaha DS6 250 Twin-Cylinder Dirt Track Racer

Lot #167 (Sale Order 67 of 67)

Late-1960s Yamaha DS6 250 Twin-Cylinder Dirt Track Racer - SOLD ON BILL OF SALE ONLY - VIN: DS6-72 - Offered Without Reserve - Yamaha’s early delving into two-stroke twins was the DS6 series. Evolved from their TD series of road racers, they focused on the potential of two-stroke technology. When these engines were installed in a dirt tracker, they were terrors on the straight away; the corners were a little more of a challenge. This unit has a Champion frame that was popular in the '60s and '70s.
