ASSEMBLED AS M1C SNIPER RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 2427502. Bbl. 24". The markings on the right side include "SA 3 53." Throat gauges are 3.0. Muzzle gauges are 1.0. T105E1 aperture rear sight. Blade front sight with protective ears. This rifle was assembled to replicate the M1C Sniper Rifle using a commercial Lyman 2 1/2-power Alaskan scope and an original military scope mount with a reproduction scope base. The scope has a blued steel tube, tapered post reticle, and "ALL WEATHER" markings on both the windage and elevation mounts. S# 9857 does not have a letter prefix. The scope is also marked "THE LYMAN GUN SIGHT CORP." / "MADE IN U.S.A. MIDDLEFIELD CONN U.S. PATENT NO 2078858" / "ALASKAN." Bolt, milled trigger guard, hammer, and safety marked "SA". The trigger housing is marked "HRA." The operating rod is marked "IHC." Replacement hardwood stock set. Buttstock is marked on the left side over the trigger guard with a boxed defense acceptance mark. Marked under pistol grip with encircled "P" proof. Stock is equipped with lace on a leather cheek pad marked "MRT1 52." Trap buttplate and brown leather Hunter military-style sling. CONDITION: stock set has very light wear and staining, plus tiny scattered handling marks. Metal retains a large degree of a vintage arsenal rework finish with light wear and thinning. The scope has moderate thinning and wear, with spots of light oxidation. Wear and thinning are notable on the ocular end. Optics appear clear and serviceable. Scope mt. and rings have light wear and spots of missing finish. The scope base is in very good condition. The screw attachment to the scope base does not show arsenal-type workmanship. Very good, shiny bore. (23-5511/RW). CURIO. $1,200-1,800.
