MILITARY SNIPER RIFLE WITH M84 SCOPE. Cal. 30-06. S# 3415278. Bbl. 24". Replacement bbl. is marked at forward end "RA" flaming bomb, "3-44". Bbl. was fitted with front sight. Receiver markings are offset correctly and are "U.S. / REMINGTON / MODEL 03-A3". Receiver has correct bevel for bolt handle. Correct bolt has only punch mark underneath bolt handle. Bolt sleeve and safety marked "R". Mag. cutoff marked "R". Unmarked one piece scope base with correct bevel at rear. Two mounting screws. Screw heads have been staked. M84 Scope with blued steel tube. Rubber eyepiece & sliding sunshade. Turrets are fitted with flip up dust caps. Nomenclature plate on right side marked "TELESCOPE / M84 / SERIAL NO 46643" boxed in white. Non tapered post reticle with horizontal crosshair. All stamped furniture with greenish parkerized finish. Large bow trigger guard. Fine checkered buttplate. Walnut stock set. Scant grip stock is marked on left side over trigger guard with "FJA" crossed cannons, "RA". Cutout recess marked with "K". Forend tip marked "CD". Circle "P" proof under grip. Crisp assembly numbers in front of trigger guard. Stock with 2 recoil bolts has correctly machined cutout to clear the bolt handle. Green web sling. CONDITION: stock set has original finish with legible markings. Very light wear and small scattered handling marks. Metal retains a very large degree of the arsenal rework. Greenish parkerized finish. Front sight area has notable more polished appearance. Near excellent shiny two groove bore. PROVENANCE: from The Working Reference Collection of Military Arms Instructor, Master Sergeant Vincent Pestilli. (23-7577/RW). CURIO. $1,500-2,500.
