Cased Pair of Civil War Colt Model 1860 Revolvers, #160150 and #89431, .44 cal., 8" "streamlined" barrels have 1-line "New-York U.S. America" addresses, patented "creeping" loading levers. Rebated cylinders with rolled naval scenes and serials within boxes. Frames have "Colts/Patent" at left, #89431 is cut for stock, steel backstraps, brass trigger guards, 1-pc. varnished walnut grips. #160150 mfg'd 1866, #89431 mfg'd 1863. Condition of #160150 is near fine, retaining 50% barrel blue, scattered cleaned erosion, fine edges and markings. Cylinder with traces of blue, scene partially obscured by erosion. Frame and lever show case colors, some screws niter blue. Backstrap with 20% blue, trigger guard with 90% silver, sound and smooth grips have added varnish. Visible serial numbers match. Action is crisp, bore is clean with excellent rifling. Condition of #89431 is good, showing no original finishes (barrel may have added color), scattered cleaned erosion, cylinder scene obscured by pitting but serial appears to match, good edges and markings, toned brass, sound and smooth grips with added varnish. Visible serial numbers match. Action is crisp, bore is clean with fine rifling. 15.5"x10" rosewood-paved case has vacant brass escutcheon in lid, is lined in red velveteen and partitioned in the English style for both revolvers, bullet mold and powder flask (latter two not present), a 250-ct. Eley cap tin with partial green label (empty) and a number of assorted-caliber lead balls. Case and lining are very good and complete, of the period, but re-purposed for these revolvers.
