"A tribute to Richard von Frankenberg based on his miraculous escape from the plummeting ìMickey Mouseî RS Spyder during his spectacular accident at the 1956 Gran Prix of Berlin. As von Frankenberg piloted the RS Spyder around the AVUS track, a suspension part broke, sending the car up and over the steeply-banked curve and into a parking lot, where the car burst into flames. It was feared that von Frankenberg was trapped in the overturned car, burning to death, but instead, as the car sailed over the embankment, he had slipped out of the cockpit, landing safely in some shrubbery. Miraculously, he was unhurt and, to everyone's amazement and relief, walked down the embankment. Silver-plated bronze on black marble. 19.5x7x7 inches. "In the early morning of the 1954 Mille Miglia, Hans Herrmann piloted the prototype Porsche 550-08 with Herbert Linge as navigator. As they rounded a blind right-hand curve at 90 miles per hour, Linge was absorbed in his route notes, so Herrmann was shocked to see a railwayñcrossing gate dropping directly across his path. The race steward, who should have flagged them to a stop before the turn, stood at the crossing, equally shocked as the speeding silver car bore down on him. At that instant, he knew what the driver of the car could not see, a locomotive closing fast on the intersection. With no time or space to brake, Herrmann pushed Lingeís head down, ducked below the short windscreen, and accelerated blindly. The flagman jumped away, the crossing guard held the gate just above its cradle, and the little Porsche slipped through the crossing just ahead of the roaring train. Herrmann and Linge went on to win the 1500 cc sports-car class and finish sixth overall. Bronze and stainless-steel on walnut. 6x16x10 inches. Porsche 718 RS 60 Spyder 400 millimeter steering wheel. Manufactured by VDM with a date code of "912" or December of 1959. Offered in excellent condition with a small chip on the reverse of the wine-red wheel rim. Aluminum spoke design, riveted to a steel splined hub. The Bakelite early Porsche crest horn push assembly mounted to the wheel with three INKA 8G hex head screws. Offered from the estate of early Porsche collector Dr. William Jackson, reportedly removed from RS 60 chassis number 718-060.

"917 x 12 is a framed composite artwork featuring a dozen different Porsche 917s photographed by Jeff Zwart for 917 x 17, the lavishly produced commemorative, Rennsport Reunion III tome featuring stunning studio images of each of the 17 Porsche 917s invited to the world-famous event. Quoted by Racer Magazine, Jeff Zwart said that ìEach separate 917 is an individual archival print that is mounted on board and combined so the artwork is quite dimensional. All 12 cars form one single 917 image in a very large size. The artwork is nearly eight feet long and each piece is hand assembled.î This particular example of 917 x 12 is number 3 of an edition of 10. It was originally purchased by the Ingram family as a gift for noted Porsche collector, the late Dr. William Jackson, of Denver, Colorado. The now sold out edition of ten pieces originally retailed at $15,000."
