Group of Four (4) German/Austrian Swords: 1) Austrian Model 1904 cavalry officer's sword, 31" plain nickel-plated blade with stamped maker's logo of crossed sabers and crossed hammers, with same logo stamped into the guard. Nickel-plated steel basket guard is pierced and engraved with floral designs. Smooth nickel-plated backstrap with checkered finger rest. Grooved wood grip covered in sharkskin and wrapped with a single twisted and two straight wires. Nickel-plated steel scabbard with one hanging ring and belt clip loop. Original leather blade washer present. Condition is very good, the blade is bright showing almost no age or wear, with a light coating of old grease. Guard and backstrap show scattered light rust spotting, age, and minor pitting, but should clean nicely. Grip shows some age and wear to the black dyed finish on the sharkskin, the wire wrapping is nice and tight. Scabbard shows light oxidation with a small patch or two of rust, and no dents. 2) German Model 1889 cavalry degen, with a 30.5" nickel-plated etched engraved blade with blued panel to the "Hus. Regt. Kaiser Nicholas II v. Russland(1Westf.) Nr.8", which is the Hussar regiment, named for Russian czar Nicholas II, 1. Westfalen Number 8. No maker's marks. Nickel silver folding guard with pierced Prussian eagle, black composite grip, nickel silver pommel and nut, and black painted steel scabbard with one hanging ring. Condition is fair, the blade showing age and some light rust stains, fading to the blued panel, and coated with old grease. May clean up to very good. The nickel silver hilt fittings show an uncleaned oxidized finish. Grip is broken with a large chunk missing from the inside edge. Scabbard shows heavy losses to the painted finish, a dark rust patina, and a couple of small dents. 3) German Model 1889 cavalry degen, with a 33.75" nickel-plated, etched engraved blade with etched panel to the "II POMM. Ulanen Regt. No.9", which is the II Pommeranian Ulan Regiment Number 9. No maker's markings. Nickel silver folding guard with pierced Prussian eagle, black composite grip, nickel silver pommel and nut. Nickel-plated steel scabbard with one hanging ring. Condition is fair, the blade showing scattered pepper rust, age, and several small edge nicks. The folding guard is bent slightly, the quillion is bent down and cracked on the side, the finger guard is dented and broken at the knot hole with a small piece missing. Grip has a small chip at the center and a large chip at the bottom. Scabbard has heavy rust peppering and losses to the plating, and several dents. 4) Wiemar to Nazi period German enlisted man's sword, with a 35" nickel-plated plain blade maker marked with the Alcoso logo. Nickel-plated steel crossguard, turned-down quillion, and backstrap. Black composite grip with triple twisted wire wrapping. No scabbard. Condition is very good, the blade is mostly bright with small spots of minor pitting and rust. Hilt fittings are very nice showing a light oxidized finish and should clean to almost mint. Grip is very nice with one small scratch and nice tight wire wrapping. Est.: $600-$900/Lot.
