Z-COTE AR-15 A2 GOVT MODEL RIFLE. Cal. 223. S# GS000057. Bbl. 20". Manufactured 1988. The Z-Cote Tiger Stripe AR-15s were made in very small numbers and are often considered one of the rarest production rifles Colt ever offered. One of only 250 made. The entire rifle is covered in a Tiger Stripe camoflauge. Threaded barrel terminated w/ A2 flash hider & marked "C MP 556 NATO 1/7". Protected post front sight / gas block / bayonet lug. 12" A2 handguards retained w/ tapered delta ring. Carry handle upper receiver w/ round forward assist, brass deflector & dual aperture adjustable rear sight. Slab side lower receiver w/ left side controls. Receiver marked on left side mag-well, below Colt logo; "AR-15 A2 / GOV'T MODEL / CAL 223" above serial number & marked "COLTS FIREARMS DIVISION / COLT INDUSTRIES / HARTFORD CONN / U.S.A." above trigger. Front of mag-well marked "Z" in camo pattern. SP1 style bolt carrier. 10.5" A2 buttstock w/ trap door, currently sporting Cherokee cheek riser. MAGS: 2 Wilson composite 20rd w/ jungle clip. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: spare cheek scope riser, factory cardboard box. CONDITION: Unique original finish enjoys complete & consistent coverage. Very little sign of use. Brass deflector still enjoys full finish coverage w/ ejection marks visible under close inspection. Bore bright w/ strong rifling. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. PROVENANCE: From the Working Reference Collection of Military Arms Instructor, Master Sergeant Vincent Pestilli.
