.76 cal, 8” round barrel with a good bore showing some scattered old mild oxidation. This is an interesting pistol, constructed using original flint Pattern 1796 flintlock pistol parts around a later more commercial-looking checkered walnut stock. The barrel was apparently shortened about an inch and has mostly toned to a deep plum-brown patina showing some scattered light pitting. The barrel markings remain otherwise intact and strong showing two ordnance proofs “(Crown) / GR / (Broad Arrow)” and “(Crown) / (Crossed Scepters)” along with a small crown stamp near the tang and a “(Crown) / 4” above the touch hole. The lockplate is a similar patina as the barrel with a few areas of lighter gunmetal and likewise retains nice markings with prominent Royal Cypher in the center, “TOWER” at the rear and “(Crown) / (Broad Arrow)” below the pan. The original brass sideplate and triggerguard were utilized, the tang of the triggerguard bent and recontoured slightly for the newer stock shape. The brass shows evidence of an old cleaning now toned to a pale ocher and there is an additional flat brass buttcap. The bow of the triggerguard bears what appear to be original unit markings “6 D / D39”, no doubt indicating the 6th Dragoons. This unit was mostly stationed in Ireland around the time this pattern of pistol would have been used, from here sending a 400-strong detachment to South Africa in 1806. The replacement checkered walnut stock is obviously of American construction but nicely done and appears fairly old itself showing some scattered light dings, a few lightly chipped points and small repaired flake ahead of the lockplate. The included iron ramrod appears to be original hardware as well, shortened to 7 1/2”, and retaining a British proof and what appears to be “62 / D” marking. The cock is a little loose and the lock otherwise seems to function normally. An interesting piece for the antique arms collector. (13B11451-3) {ANTIQUE} (1000/1500)

GUIDELINES FOR FIREARM PURCHASES • All Federal, State and Local firearms laws will be observed. FFL holders may take possession of any firearm on day of sale when they present a signed copy of their Federal Firearms License. New Hampshire residents over the age of 21 may take possession of any firearm on day of sale providing the proper paperwork is filled out and the transfer has been approved either through the NH State Police or the FBI NICS System. While most NICS and State approvals are immediate, approvals could take up to 3 days. Most non-residents may take possession of long guns on day of sale after completing the proper forms and successfully completing a NICS check; modern handguns will need to be shipped to an FFL holder in the buyer's home state. Buyer is responsible for any and all shipping charges and all items must be paid for on day of sale. Bidders should be familiar with their local and state laws as Amoskeag Auction Co., Inc. will not be responsible for any parties purchasing items which may not be possessed in, or shipped, to their state of residence.
